As a deaf college graduate, is it hard to get an entry level position in an investment firm?

Yeah, the law protects you. That sounds great. Now for the reality check. Most 'entry level' investment jobs involve lots of phone calls with potential clients. If you're not 100% adept at phone etiquette, you probably couldn't get that position, and I don't think the technology that you'd be using as a deaf person has yet reached the stage where that would be the case. So, I think you'd be realistically limited from a lot of the entry level jobs.

Since you're effectively barred from those jobs, you're stuck going after the few other entry level jobs in research, etc. Now for the good news. Those phone jobs are crappy jobs anyway. That's where most new college grads get stuck, and it's miserable, and most of them give up within a year. Instead, you're stuck with the better jobs. Sure, they're going to be harder to get, cuz there are fewer of them, and many firms aren't organized to take entry level people in any other function. But this will just assure you that you'll keep looking until you find a good position. So, with that limitation, yes, it is hard for anyone to get one of those good entry level positions. You'll just have to persevere. That's a good thing because you won't make it in the investment world unless you have a lot of perseverence anyway.

By the way, I'd suggest playing to your strengths. Consider what areas of the investment business you'd be strongest at, and which areas you'd be weakest in, and focus your attention on your strengths. If you're a good writer and researcher, apply for positions with research firms or publishers. If you're better at portfolio management, perhaps mutual funds would be a good direction to pursue. If you're into sales, I suppose I'd look toward the big brokerage firms.

Best of luck to you.

By U.S. law, business are required to provide reasonable allowances for disabled employees and they can't refuse to hire you strictly on the basis of your disability. Depending on your job description, you shouldn't have a problem getting a job.

i dont think you will have problem because there are lots of positions in an investment firm, the only postion you will have a porblem getting a job in an investment firm woth be a front desk job or positions where you have to be in close contact with the customer.
