Why do top producers at investment firms receive huge Christmas bonuses?

Do you feel they deserve it, given that many investment firms haven't been as profitable this past year, their stocks fell, and they may have lost money for clients.

Just how do these outrageous pay packages + bonuses hurt the rest of the public, if at all?

I guess this question is contradictory.

The name of the game is to rake in the money any which way, never question it's origin.

That's what makes for a top producer.

Why? To get them to work harder in the coming year. (That's why they get bonuses even in down years.)

Do they deserve it? Probably not. But what are you gonna do? STOP INVESTING?! BWHAHAHAHA...
