I would like to know what is the best short investment for about 7months with $1-5000?

I'm a college student looking to invest. All suggestions are appreciated, thanks..Btw I'm new to this so I don't really know what other information you need.

Sometimes other institutions will have a higher teaser rate, but Vanguard tends to have the highest yields I've found over the long run. (Vanguard money markets are not FDIC insured, however.)

As a student with a 7 month time frame I assume that is not money you should risk loosing. Investing in the stock market is too risky. Especially with the current market climate.

The interest rates on CDs aren't good, unless you can find a local bank offering a special. But you will keep the principal.

A CD or invest in a Money Market Mutual Fund would be a safe option. You should earn about 5% APY which will end up with about $150 in interest for 7 months if you invest $5K.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how certain are you that you will need to access your money in 7 months. If its 2 or higher leave the money in a money market. If its l or less please send me an email.
