Rental property does anybody have experience in buying property for investment in Spain if you have experienc?

Can you please pass on any information ie what sort of rental season you can expect . And should you pass the details to a rental management co or should you look to try and fill the dates yourself. What sort of return would you expect on your investment and is ther any drawback with doing this

You have two choices when renting your property in Spain. There are many people now looking for long term rentals in Spain and you can be quite successful in finding a long term tenant just by advertising in the local paper. I am based in Javea on the Costa Blanca and we have a very good ex pat paper called the Costa Blanca News, this is a very popular read, and it covers quite an extensive area. You can find the publication on line at http://www.costablanca-news.com/ They also have a Costa del Sol issue.

The other option open to you is holiday lets which covers around 12 weeks of the year. Advertising your property on the internet is a good way of attracting rental clients or there are also some very good rental companies in Spain that cover Europe.

There is a company called TLC Overseas Properties, they are a company that brokers use for their overseas investments clients, i.e. people buy abroad to rent them out. They have a very good track record. These people will give you a honest answer to your questions. They can be contacted on 01908 340581.

.I suggest you give it to an agent dealing in rented properties in Spain and all the questions you have asked, they will be able to answer all of them collectively.

I have no direct experience but have heard:

You can have problems with title - ownership of property both from locals (say famil) or the state. So check the legal side out with someone that you trust.

There is a company that buys properties in Spain from disillusioned investors at a knock-down price. It will sell the properties to you on the basis that you make little if any income from them but end up owning them in about 10 years. Great if I didn't need the income now! & with companies one has to ask are they legit & even if where are you if they go bust.
