Should I quit my job or what?

I purchased some real estate investment classes which require me to be of on some Friday's. I told my manager about three weeks in advance about the class and all she said was that, that week was going to be busy and I told her I paid more than my salary for these classes.

So that Friday came along and I took off. Monday morning she called me into a meeting and asked me about Friday. I told her she didn't ever tell me that I couldn't get off and it must of just been a miscommunication. I really wished she fired me. I just told her that I did tell her in advance and she should of told me that I couldn't go in that three week period.

Then she told me I could stay but I need to watch my days. SOOOOOOOOOOOO now I have a mentor coming in two weeks for the week. I'm thinking of just quitting bc this other girl is going to be out here as well and they're going to be busy. I don't want to deal with the bs of what she's going to tell me.

I think I should just leave.

you need to think about what you are doing.
you paid for real estate classes? you realize this is not the time to get into real estate, don't you? experts say the bottom of this drop in property values is at least 18 months away and probably closer to 2 years. of course someone SELLING YOU A COURSE is going to tell you now is the time. they make their money selling the course not in real estate.

asking for time off does not mean you get it. your employer does not have to honor your request and shouldn't if it effects the operation of the business. if you are crazy enough to get into this field at this time then give your notice and work it out. do your job to the best of your ability and hopefully if things don't work out for you in real estate investment you will have something to fall back on.

good luck, you are going to need it.

Go ahead and quit if you want to. You won't get unemployment, you'll lose your insurance and other benefits, you'll lose your unvested money and hope that you have 6 months or more of cash on hand to support yourself while you're unemployed.

Did you inform them about your plans PRIOR to enrolling/paying for the classes?

I am confused as you said you advised your Manager 3 weeks in advance but "had paid" (which means you had enrolled) for the classes already.

It would have been proper to inform them first of your plans so as to ensure it would not conflict with your job.

On the other hand, if you feel that these classes are more important to you and your future and you can do away with your present employment, then I would suggest you give them fair notice and move on. This way, your employers are not left in the lurch of being without you and the other co-worker you mentioned and you leave them in good standing.

Afterall, you would still want them as a reference, right?

wow, thats complicated, could you call in sick and come back with a doctors note saying you were contagious?? thats a tough one. it sucks when a boss doesn't listen to a thing you say.
