It is very clear from your question you are a novice to the stock market scenario. That too you bwant to enter when the market is in turmoil in a highly volatile situation.
Investment in stocks is not only based on the performances and recommendations but who is giving these news. There are vested interest every where. Many window dressing is also done. Plus all will point out to the statutory warning that investment in stocks and Mutual funds are subject to market vfluctuations and past performance is no guide or assurance for future performanceand you take your own calculated risk.
Also the portfolio management is an experts issue and for you to decide on your own without consideration of your income savings loans assets etc may not be the right choice now. May be after sometime you may be more wiser.

SAY looks quite attractive currently, but I am not sure the correction is yet over with.
