What is the best way to prospect for sales?

I will be starting a new job as an investment sales rep. and I need a plan to market myself in the community. What is the best and most effective way to do this? My job is 100% commision and I need some help so I stop freaking out about this. Thanks.

If you have a series 6 or a series 7 than the flier on cars idea is out. Unfortunately that's against NASD rules.

With all of the do not call lists these days its going to be tough using the phone. The best way to get your name out there is word of mouth. You need to find advocates who will recommend you. You need to network and build relationships with people who are "centers of influence" (CPA's, tax preparers, attorney's). You need to show them how you can add value to their business and client relationships by recommending you to their clients. A starting point would be to join your local chamber of commerce.

A great website for all kinds of ideas and advice is www.horsesmouth.com. I highly recommend signing up for the site. Check with the company that you will be working for and see if they already have a membership.

Good luck!!!

well, good question! a cheep, and effective way is to make flyers on your computer, print one copy out, go to staples, and have them copy about 100 (or more, it all depends on how you want to start) copys of the flyer, then go out in a busy parking lot and put one flyer on each car... or sometimes you can go into a local business or a place like dunkin' donuts, and ask the manager or whoever if theres a place you can put them, like on a bulitin board or something... ive used this technique before, and its very effective. hope this all works out for you, and my answer solves some problems.

calling businesses or store near you, and set up an appointment. Put an classified or some mini ads in local (free/paid) newspaper / tabloid
