I need to calculate the present value of a pension plan.? |
I am transferring my pension from my previous employer's scheme to a private scheme. My employer has confirmed what my annual pension will be from my retirement age but I now need to determine the present value of this to determine my lump sum transfer. I am 36 and based on my previous employer's plan, normal retirement age is 60, investment return is 6%, COLA 2.5% and they are using a 1994 GAM tables for life expectancy. sorry, but IDK what that stuff is. It make ZERO difference what you calculate. The ONLY number that matter is the one calculated by the current plan administrator. If YOU need to calculate anything, this is a homework question. If that is the case, READ the chapter. The answer is in there. Report It IDK is LAME. Since most peeps have MS Office, the easiest way to calculate the Present Value of future cash flows is with EXCEL functions: =NPV and =XNPV. I had to add the =XNPV formula from my office disc. Report It See the current issue of Consumer Report. The easiest way maybe to contact the company that records keeps the plan. |
