I want to invest in yahoo what is the minimum investment these days to start a portfolio?

It depends on the broker.

I use FolioFN (www.foliofn.com) and there is no minimum req. to open an account. To purchase stocks, I can purchase full or partial shares.

Best wishes,

pup

It depends on where you open your brokerage account since many brokerage account has minimum balance requirement. If you have an account already, you could buy as low as 1 share of stock only. However, the commission and other charges might be high. Many on-line brokerage account has the flat commission rate. Thus, no matter how many shares you buy, you still pay the same amount of commission, typically from $7.00 and up. The other option you can investigate is through www.sharebuilder.com . Unlike brokerage account, they allow you to invest with minimal investment amount. So, I would suggest that you do your homework before start to invest to see which option is the best for you.

The best program to make income fast is http://tinyurl.com/ylkczs

if you don't have the money for that program yet then you should learn to invest. virtualstockexchange.com is a FREE site where you can practice real stocks with imaginary money.

When you get the hang of it:

Sharebuilder.com is the best place for you to start if you want to do stocks. Many mutual funds can accept monthly investment plans, and some will allow you to start with as little as $50.

If you pick a basic mutual fund, you're probably as safe there as anywhere. It won't be a world-beater, but it will be a great place to start until you build up your dollars.
