The other side of investment and trading????

Hi,
I am new to investing and pretty young (aged 17). I've been following the online investing tutorials regularly. However, there are some 7 articles on this website and they claim to show the real picture (the dark side) of trading and investments. Could someone more experienced can please tell if these articles and the data provided in them are genuine and trustworthy?
The articles are on:

Thanks a lot

Anni,

You can spend the next 10 years reading online and not learn a thing. You need to learn to separate opinions from facts. Do a search on Amazon for books on trading/investing and go with the ones with the best reader reviews. You will be able to form your own opinions. Talk is cheap, online talk is even cheaper.

They appear to make some legitimate points, but are not all that complete or well written. You could be spending your time reading better stuff. Look for books by Peter Lynch or Ken Fisher to start.

Why do you use the term "dark side"?

Note: started trading when I was 19 and now retired from my regular job twenty years early and have a great life with my family while my former coworkers are still working five days a week.. Investing is a great way to make a living, but you have to take the time to develop your skills. Congratulations on having the brains to discover stocks so early in your life.

Read Liar's Poker (I forget the Author but I think it's Lynch) and the Intelligent Ivestor by Benjamin Graham. Would advise you to start slowly in actully ponying up any monies...Use a dollar cost averaging strategy like sharebuilder thorough Merrill Lynch (I don't know their minimums or structure, but check it out). PEACE!
