Is it appropriate to ask for PAN from every stock investor?

Is it appropriate to ask for PAN from every stock investor?

Why not ? There's nothing wrong in asking for PAN fron every stock investor only or otherwise, since U R a Tax payer already, hence, U R not losing anything in providing it, just for varification. It's a sort of warning to investor that every investments in stock mkt. is subject to risk. The more stringent the law's better, I guess, in an effort to prevent scam, in the interest of the investors.

As long as you coat the pans in PAM first. Or, make them non-stick pans.

yes its very important for verification otherwise how will u get to know about his credibility......if u dont hav pan card then first make it n then think about investing in stocks.

Dear Haridas, reforms in taxation domain creating buzz in investors' mind. Having PAN become necessary for participating in stock market and mutual funds. But all investors no need to submit PAN proof. Presently the persons who are doing transactions greater than or equal to Rs.50000/- per transaction are need to submit PAN proof. Recently chitambaram said that the persons who are investing Rs.2 lakhs per anum in mutual funds should file the tax returns. In future PAN become mandatory for all financial transactions.

If you believe in civilised society and obligation to pay taxes then it is appropriate.

Small investors don't have money nor PAN nor the capacity to risk their meagre savings.

In any case India has the lowest incidence to Capital Gains tax for share investment.

So it is very appropriate to ask for PAN.
