Who is the best broker for a limited income investor?

Who is the best broker for a limited income investor?

It depends on how much you invest, and also how displined you are.

If you can actually invest a small amt every single payperiod, that defineds one way.

If you cant, that may limit your choices.

Large investments usualy should be diversified.
Small investments should either be in safe or high quality (blue chip or dividend funds or stocks).

Ultimately if you cant afford to lose the investment, then you should invest in funds or annuitys for a smaller return.

Best broker is one who will cost you the least to accomplish the above choices...

IN the case of 'DRIP' investing...you are often your own broker, since Drips (other than the initial investment) rarely require a broker.

You might want to look at the style of the broker. Some, such as Edward T. Jones are conservative. T. Rowe Price is pretty good. But it is the risk factor that's more important.

I would look at sharebuilder.com and Foliofn.com. Foliofn.com was started by a former SEC executive, and the service allows a number of options including a monthly fee of $20-30 to make 50-100 trades during 2 "trading windows" per day.

Sharebuilder lets you buy stock for $4/share.

I recommend looking at these and any other low-cost brokers and selecting the service that makes you feel most comfortable.

I attached a couple of web pages. Good luck.
