What is the difference between an investor and a shareholder?

What is the difference between an investor and a shareholder?

One can only be a shareholder if stock on the company is available. Investors put money in the company and negotiate the deal they want for use of their money.

Well Shareholder is one who puts his/her stack in company in Equity market, but Investor is wider term used for Person who put his/her stack in different markets like Commodity market, Money market, Equity market, Mix Fund etc. while shareholder is part of Equity market only

An investor buys corporate bonds, Treasury bills, and or shares of stock. Essentially an investor buys anything to produce an income. A shareholder is an individual who is the owner of stock shares. Whether the company is a private or publicly traded company is irrelevant.
