Are you a long term investor or short term?

Are you waiting to snatch up deals or are you in a panic mode and selling?

In this market, short term. Kept the powder dry and looking to pounce. tba

I am a long term investor so long as the fundamentals are there, but I can be very short term indeed if the stocks I buy do not perform as I expect. I think I held INTC for about 4 days. GS about the same. I held BAC for years. In fact until they announced they were going to buy Countrywide. Decided it was time to get rid of it.

I have certainly sold several stocks. A couple I have already mentioned. I have also bought some. But some that I thought were deals turned out to not be. There are a couple I might sell yet, but the rest I will probably stick with.

Things do not look too great at the moment. We might be in for a really rough next several years. This is not really a time to snap up too many bargains. Just a few. Next year todays bargains might be marked down another 50%.

both long and short term.. i.e i have several accounts. one is longterm for my retardament. (yes retardament instead of retirement). second is for shortterm trading meaning daytrading. third is for one to five days worth of trading. hope this helps you.

One of the world's most quizzical Questions ever Quoted. The Easy Answer is Yes. Almost everyone should start out Long Term Investing.

You Should use Passively Managed Index Mutual Funds. If you have a good plan stick with it. Perhaps you can rebalance every year.

Start out with - A Target Retirement Funds like perhaps Vanguard. This fund Breaks into The Total US Stockmarket ,, Bonds .. Foreign Investments and changes the proportions as you get older.

Once you learn about the market you can have some short term money to Gamble with.

Good Luck - Good question..

I don't believe there is such an animal as a short term investor. I short term trade... I do not invest. I could careless about the fundamentals of the company or where it might be in a year. I care about where it might be in the next hour.

A trader will look at a sector that is moving even in a down market. (Oil and Oils services today.. with the exception of COP)

In this market you want to be a long-term investor. DON'T PANIC! As long as you are invested in solid companies you're investment will be fine. Short term investors are the ones getting burned in the market and panicking right now.

Now is the time to bargain shop and pick up some shares at a discount and hold on for the long-term ride (3-5 years at least).

I am a long-term investor, but make some short-term trades when I see the opportunity. As I tend to focus on companies that have turnaround potential or are significantly undervalued, I tend to hold my positions for fairly long periods of time, as it takes time for the market to properly value the companies. I am currently buying select companies and shifting my capital to where I see the most opportunity. Just some thoughts, I hope they help.

Best of luck!

I'm a long term investor, it's a chance to get shares in some great companies, it's just a matter of when to get them.

People who panic shouldn't be in the market. Warren Buffett didn't panic when the market crashed in 1987, and didn't panic when the U.S. went into a recession earlier this decade.

Long term, my horizon is easily 45 years.
