How can a small individual investor invest in upcoming IPOs?

I would like to find out what are the ways to purchase / apply for upcoming IPOs.

Usually, IPO's are listed in the Wall Stree Journal. You can also find them at finance.yahoo.com.
Usually small investors don't get to invest in the IPO's because larger groups called institutional investors get offerred first. These are companies like insurance companies and investment banking firms that buy millions of shares at once.

Good IPOs, the ones expected to rise, are bought upby the big players and insiders of the brokerage industry.
Little guys, don't get to buy.

But if the IPO is not expected to run anywhere, the big guys and insiders won't touch it, so the little guy is the canon fodder for the offering.

Don't buy, if they will let you.

There are Mutual Funds specialized in IPOs.
