Why would an investor look for shares outstanding and basic weighted avarage shares?

Most would not. A mutual fund would because they take really large positions in securities and they have a concern that if they want to exit the market quickly they would want to do so without driving the price through the floor.

80 years ago, the data was of more concern than currently. Back then many stocks traded only a few hundred a day. In fact there were only about 100 different stocks that traded significant volume. NYSE total daily volume was only about 2 million shares normally. During that time shares outstanding and daily volume ment something.

EVERYONE WANTS TO PALY SAFE GAME IN SHARE MARKET AS IT IS VERY RESKY MARKET , NO ONE IS SURE WHAT WILL HAPENS TOMMOROW THAT IS WHY EVERY WANTS A SURE AN SOLID GAIN.
