Does an investor need 2 b a shareholder of record by the market open or close on the Record Date 2 get divend?


I would like to sell a dividend yielding stock which I have purchased prior to its listed ex-date. I would like to know whether I must hold my shares as of the stock market's opening or closing on the record date in order to qualify for the dividend payment later. Thank you.
