For the investors...What do you think of Van Kampen Leaders for a new investor?

really, what do you think?

Please bear in mind that this is solely my own personal opinion, and possibly worth what it cost...

I think Van Kampen is a dog. It (Van Kampen vehicles) is very cyclical and slow to respond to market stimuli. Historically, VK is a lateral moving vehicle.

Consider something like Franklin Templeton Tax Free Income funds. A consistent performer. BTW, I am in no way associated with FT but actually own some 14,000 shares. When the bottom fell out of the market a few years ago, FT consistently earned 3-5% when others were at 1-2%.

No way to tell yet, the fund has only been around for 1+ year. Not long enough of a track record to evaluate.

they charge a 6% load (sales fee) why would you go for anything that charges a high fee. yu can get the same type of investment at vanguard or fidelity and not pay any load...thus automatically saving you 6%...vanguard and fidelity have everything you need for the lowest of fees....believe me
