Should a investor that holds stock for 2 yrs pay the same price as he would pay for stock he would hold for 30

Say two investors want to purchase stock from a co. and one of the investors typically holds for 2 yrs while the other holds for 30, should they both be willing to pay the same price? This question is one from class and I need some help with this please.

The long term investor is less valuation sensitive than the shorter term investor. he is hoping to make his money from the long term growth in the company.

The shorter term investor will be much more valuation sensitive, as the focus is on shorter term price swings.

So the long term investor may be willing to pay up for growth and the short term investor will not.

I would say no. The guy that is willing to only hold the stock for 2 years is looking for a much faster payoff, so he would want to make a particular point of buying as low as possible to sell as high as possible in 2 years. The guy that is going to hold for 30 years will care less- there is going to be so much that happens in that time period, the amount he pays today matters less.

Of course they should each pay the same price.

If we each buy a ham sandwich, for example, but you eat yours right away and I wait two days to eat mine, why should we pay different prices?

If the stock is valued at $8 a share, right now, then if we each purchase it now, we should each pay $8.
