What edu. to obtain before becoming a real estate investor?

I am a highschool student. I am interested in eventually becoming a real estate investor, what college education do you suggest I first obtain?

Pick a career that pays you a lot so that you can become an investor. Economics, Statistics and Mathematics are fine, but they generally don't lead to high powered careers. Finance was a good suggestion, but be prepared for a boatload of competition. Finance is overrated and was for a time before everyone could go to school. Now, you'd start off at $30000/yr or less and have to fight tooth and nail to succeed, while busting your hump by putting in major hours.

Stick to pharmacy (5-6 yrs), nursing (4-5), information security/technology (4-5), computer engineering (4-5). These are competitive, but relatively short degree programs with high earning potential. You don't have to claw at people at work, either, in order to make a lot of money. By a lot, I'm speaking in terms relative to the average person. These three professions have earning potential of six figures within 2-5 years after finding a job.

Other science/technical degrees don't offer the fast track earning potential of pharmacy, nursing, IT or computer engineering. Biology, Physics degrees, etc., are for people who love school over money. Definitely stay away from pseudo-science degrees. These are degrees that are technically a science, but they're easy to obtain and translate into garbage for earning potential.

They don't really teach real estate investment in college, but I guess a business degree would be helpful. That being said, the best education you will receive is to join your local Real Estate Investment Club (Google that in your area), go to the meetings and any training that they offer. Go on line and read real estate investment forums (try nakedinvestor.com, reiplace.com, reiclub.com, sub2deals.com - these are my favorite). There are free "webinar" trainings almost every other day. There are also low cost "expos" where they give you a little information and try to sell you their "training system" or "bootcamp" - usually very expensive but you do get some good information. Read any books related to real estate investment - there are a million out there.

economics, finance, and a lot of street smarts.
