Is there a such thing as being just an investor?

and if it is can you just invest and not work like invest in different stock and stay at home and get paid for it is this a buisness is there a such career as an investor?

Yes, there is a career for someone who works from home and trades securities (stocks and/or bonds, options, etc.) for his/her own account "just as an investor". The term for a person who works from home, buying and selling securities, is a "day trader".

A day trader earns a profit by buying and selling securities to profit on small movements in the price of securities, because the day trader is an expert in a few securities. The day trader usually closes all positions at the end of each trading day (thus the term "day trader").
