What is a good college major for Financial Investor careers?


I want to be the best financial investor I possibly can.

Business, finance, or economics. Most schools have one or more of these programs. But, you will also want to get additional certifications (CPA or CFA) and perhaps get an MBA.

Accounting. Learn to read between the lines of company's propaganda, oops, I mean financial statements.

Doesn't matter.

Benjamin Graham majored in classics at Columbia, so successfully that Columbia offered him a teaching position immediately upon his graduation.

J.P. Morgan spent only six months in college (University of G枚ttingen, to be precise), his only objective being to learn to speak German.

J.M. Keynes enrolled in King鈥檚 College to study mathematics, but later switched to economics.

Jim Simons has a Ph.D. in math, won the American Mathematical Society's Oswald Veblen Prize in Geometry, and has been chairman of the math department at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He actually refuses to hire people with previous investment experience; instead, he prefers to hire established scientists with solid quantitative backgrounds regardless of discipline.
