Waht type of partnership is best for an investor?

I have an investor that wants to give me money for my start up. What should I offer him partner, investor with equity or what? Please be specific as this is greek to me.

Unless you want him to be involved in making decisions in the business, give him no more than a limited partnership; not a limited liability partnership which will give him operations within your business.
