As a Mexican investor, what do I need, other than money, to buy a home in Houston?

I live in Mexico and I do business in USA. I have a tourist visa and I want to buy a home in Houston. Which are the requirements to fulfilled in order to buy a home in Houston as a foreigner investor?

You're going to be able to show how you earned the money. All transactions over $5000 are reported to homeland security.

Other than that, if you need or want a loan, you're going to have to convince the lender you've got a steady stream of income from somewhere.

But that's it. Unlike Mexico, the United States allows anyone to own land. If Osama bin Laden asked me to help him buy a property, I could and would certainly turn him in. But I'm not certain it would even be legal for me to refuse to help him buy that land from jail.
