If an investor is expecting serious deflation in the coming years...? |
If an investor is expecting serious deflation in the coming years combined with a lousy stock market, then is the best place for him/her to invest in safe bonds? Then you would want to be in high quality, long term bonds. Or look at long term bond funds. Fidelity, Vanguard, TRowe Price have these. Also you had better be right about your deflation scenario. Otherwise if we have inflation instead, your long term bonds will take a significant hit. Honestly the best place for any investor is to be properly diversified between bonds, stocks, and perhaps other asset classes. The exact allocation depends on many factors with the most important probably being your own risk tolerance. If your going to invest in bonds make sure you use a total bond market index. Vanguards total bond market or iShared Lehman Aggregate would be good choices. |
