How do you find/get an investor??

I was wondering how you find/get an investor because my son has invented an extroadinary invention, that I believe many people will want/need. All I have to do is find/get an investor. Can anyone tell me ANY info on what an investor is... What is an investor? What do they doo???

An investor is someone who gives money to a business/person in exchange for part ownership of the business/idea. They can either be hands on, in which case they will want say in how the business is run, or in your case how the idea moves forward. You can try to get a venture capitalist to invest in your invention, but expect to give up a large portion of any profits realized. Also, this is not an easy process. VCs realize that most ideas fail, so the acceptance rate is very low. Not only must your idea be great, but your plan to make money off the idea must be great and you must convince the VC that you are motivated to follow through with the idea.

Let me give you another option. You can try social lending. This is where you ask for a loan and tell what for, in your case to open a bar. Then, lenders (other people with money) will give money to you with the agreement that you will pay it back over time. This will allow you to keep full ownership of your invention and will help you get your funding alot easier. This works because it is hard to get 1 person to take 100% of the risk in investing in your idea. WIth social lending, it doesn't have to come from one place which makes it easier to get. You might have 80 people contributing to get you your money. Luckily, you don't have to manage paying back 80 people. You pay back the loan to one source, the lending site. Here is the site I use,
https://secure.lendingclub.com/landing.a... . It is free to sign up, so you don't have to worry about a catch. If you sign up, and you don't think it is for you, then you haven't lost anything. But if it works for you, then you got your funding! Good luck.
