Low-risk low-hassle investments for income?

All,

I am seeking to invest money for long-term income. I want the principal to keep up with inflation, but I mostly want income.

I have looked at T-bills, TIPS and CDs as safe investments, but if I want to keep the principal up with inflation and pay my taxes, a $200k investment nets me about $500.00 per year after taxes - 0.25%. I'm looking for something better.

Rental real estate has a high hassle-factor. You have to deal with tenants and repairs.

Other investments carry a significant risk of default or loss of principal.

Looking for other ideas.

As a sidenote, the math on $500 from a $200k investment:

$200,000 earns 5% - $10,000/year
Taxes at 35%, subtract $3500/year
Reinvest 3% for inflation $6000/year
Total: $500/year

Look into Canadian Royal Trusts...energy companies that pay dividends ( mostly monthly)...They are good for about four more years ( when tax laws will change)
I'd suggest, if you're thinking long-term , open a ROTH IRA and add the max every year...you'll still be paying taxes for quite a while, but when you finally start withdrawing from those funds, at least that portion won't be snatched by political hacks.

I personally tried it and happy with results.

Or at $200k yielding only $500 per year is way to little. Look into mutual funds they are pretty solid with returns of 7-15%. Also for big returns oil stocks Exxon or CVX some may think this is risky but oil will always go up.

I can offer you 15% annually without risk in EUR or GBP (I am a Portfolio Manager with over a decade of experience in the Stock Markets)
