VISA in the short term.... which way do you think it will go? |
In case you haven't heard yet, VISA went public today (symbol "V") and it's up from a $44 IPO to over $56. I just checked and Mastercard went public 2 years ago... now it's trading at over $200 a share. Do you think Visa will follow the same pattern? ... I don't know if I want to pick them up just yet. They're bound to have a bit of a correction at some point. It may drop back into the $40s, then I'm going to pick some up for sure. :) I think it will go up. Visa does not lose money when it's card holders don't pay. That's the banks. Visa just makes money on processing all the transactions. I expect that transaction processing to only grow over time. I think if you're just looking for a quick score (to buy the stock and then sell it right away), then I wouldn't necessarily buy Visa. Now having said that, I do see it steadily increasing in value each day, and could possibly be worth $75 or more a share by mid-April. I am in at $50. I am editing my answer, because after answering, I read the first answerers thoughts. And he is right. Visa assumes no risk, so it might well be a great stock to own! I would now just ask myself if people are going to be charging more or less than they have in the past. And how is Visa increasing its business? |
