How would I go about finding land to buy in Romania?

I am interested in buying land in Romania as a Long-term investment, and should like to know how to go about finding a good parcel of land and evaluating its asking price and future prospects. I am especially interested in land in or around Bucharest which can in the future be subdivided into building plots.

To find a good lot try working with a reputable real estate agency, because individual sellers might try to rip you off.

Look for land mainly in the areas west, south and east of Bucharest; prices in these areas are projected to grow in the future. Prices in the northern area of Bucharest have already reached a maximum and will most likely stagnate.

Apart from its location (which should be near a main road) a good parcel to be used for future buildings should have present (or credible prospects for) access to electricity, sewer systems, running water and a paved road. The prices for parcels near woods or lakes are higher than the average.

I assume you already know that only foreign citizens that happen to be EU citizens and actually reside in Romania can personally own land; other foreign citizens that want to buy land here must first create a firm and buy the land through that firm.
