Buying currancie?

I am thinking of putting a thousand dollars in to iraqs dinar i would end up with abought 1.2 million of them and then hold them for five to ten years what do you think good or bad long term investment

With the strength of the US dollar, today, that's not such a bad idea!

However, I don't know if the Dinar would be a good currency to invest in, long *OR* short term.
The main argument for buying the dinar, of course, is that Iraq has vast oil and natural gas reserves at a time when energy prices are climbing. If the country gets its political act together, it could profit in a big way.
But when it comes to buying and selling the currency of a fledgling government in one of the most chaotic parts of the world, that goes beyond mere speculation. *SERIOUS* gambling at that.
Buying the Dinar might be MUCH EASIER than selling it!

I think it is a lousy idea...they may change the currency and you will be holding a bunch of junk paper. These foreign countries do not care about the outcome, many of the rich people in Iraq hold dollars or some other stable money and they don't keep it in Iraq......don't be sucked in
