What is the way I can get an average long-term return of 9.82% with the least risk?

What mix of investments should yield an average return of 9.82% with the lowest variability, and how much variability should I expect?

How do I run numbers at other percentages and estimate what the returns would be for exceptionally bad years, exceptionally good years, and overall expected variability at that rate?

-->Adam

Financial estimates are not accurate enough to calculate things to two decimal places. If you asked for a return of 10%, I could give you an estimate. If you say 9.82%, I throw my hands up and think you're too exacting.

(Crudely estimated, you would have to be close to 100% stocks.)

only stocks/mutual funds can offer that kind of long term return - but there are no guarantees - you could have years where you lose money

In India we have a Bank Fixed Deposit that offers 9.5% interest if you deposit for a certain period and 10% for elder citizen.These are very safe investment offered by public sector bank back by the Goverment of India,even foreigner can invest in some of the bank.
Happy Investment

I suggest the ETF DDM and hire a Portfolio Manager like myself to monitor your portfolio and sell when the DJIA is down and buy again when the DJIA is up.

If you switch to the ETF DXD when the DJIA is down then you will make more money.

That strategy is not as easy as it looks and if you try to do it on your own you could lose some money.

You need a professional to do that.
