Where is the best place to put my money to make it grow?

What institutions have the highest yeilding quarterly interest rates for savings and CDs, and what are some other low risk ways or investments to build a large amount of compounding interest?

Right now I keep a chuck of my savings in Emigrant Direct who currently offer 5.05% There are some that offer a little higher even 6% but be warned some of that is just introductory

low risk...an online savings account or CD (like INGdirect.com) which gives much higher interest than a brick and mortar bank.

Banks like ING , ICICI bank.

Check out an IRA (Individual Retirement Account).
If you go with cds, don't just stick it all in one. Spread it out into short term & long term. We have....
(1) 6 month
(1) 1 yr.
(1) 2 yr.
(1) 5 yr.
Plus we have an IRA

the short term cds keep money available in the case of an emergency & the long term is obvious... The IRA is obviously for the future & it can be added to every year by you...
Not sure what the interest rates are at this time, but as you know they fluxuate...

Bankrate.com is a good site for information. But don't expect a very high rate on a very safe investment. If you want high returns, you have to increase your level of risk.

You would over a long period do better with a broad index fund than with a CD or money market account.
