How do people make money by creating web sites and programs? I see all the time people are making billions of dollars by selling there web sites or programs. Is it because corporations pay web sites a lot of money to advertise on there and if that web sites get a lot off hits its going to be worth a lot of money? Can someone explain why the creators of facebook, youtube, and similar sites get paid so much? Also, how can people make money by creating programs?

Any good links you can give me I would appreciate it. I am starting college and thinking about being a software engineer and would like to try to make some money creating a program or web site.

I'm not sure if affiliate marketing is your thing or not, but that's how I make money online, I make money form using PPC with adwords etc, selling other peoples products and making a % of the sale.
I make money off my squidoo lenses and hubpages, from sending people to my site via videos, youtube being my many source of video traffic, I also make money from people that are on my mailing list.

But to become successful you need to learn the right techniques first or you'll probably just be wasting your time and money.

Hey man, I've tried making websites and put in anvertising program like bidvertiser, google adwords... but the hard part is getting traffic (visitor) to your website. You really have to have a good or useful content in your website.
