But if you mean "cash", then I highly recommend reading the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.
I would also recommend buying and playing his cash flow game -called what else - "Cash Flow". It's an expensive investment for a game, but it will teach you more in an hour about managing cash flow than many books or classes available.
You can also hire a cash flow specialist to design a plan specifically for your business, which will take all the guesswork out of trying to figure it out yourself. You can often find such specialists on the east coast, and might need to ask your investment banker or financial adviser for referrals. Being your own boss seems like a good idea - make your own hours and big bucks etc. The only right reason to go into business is to supply something better than the competition. Lots of pizza shops - lots that deliver - Domino's guaranteed 30min. They have since seen the error in that, but the concept was a good one - I used them because I wanted my pizza hot and soon.
So what is it that you do that will gain you a bigger market share? If you haven't got that you will not be growing or improving your cash flow - cut your losses and run. If on the other hand you have something to offer that the others don't then you need to find the way to get that word out. Just spoke to a man who had been sitting for 2 years on a very esoteric piece of equipment - once he offered it on Ebay he got 3 new orders. Go figure! So where is your customer? |
