How to cancel unclaimed funds from paypal?

I have sent a payment that needs to be refunded through Paypal. I have looked on how to do this, but the website just leads me round in circles, and there seems to be no way I can actually get my money back. Has anyone managed to do this, and how might I be able to get my funds? I know they automatically reimburse, but there's currently nothing stopping the seller from claiming funds that he's no longer due, so want to sort it ASAP.

I tried to click on the cancel bit, but then it went to a text telling me to do just that; click on cancel. So each time I DO it, it tells me to do it. I'm literally going round in circles. Unless there's something wrong with my paypal...

You can do one of two things. If you have sent a payment to a non-existent email address which paypal does not recognize it will have a cancel button to the right of the transaction. If the payment was sent to a existent email address you will have to contact the person or file a buyer complaint.
