How will I read the sensex chart,is it on the overall gain or the closing sensex mark?

also when the sensex are down some of my fund lose but some still manage to gain, does it means some use BSE others NSE etc, what are the reason,

(A).I THINK YOUR MEANING OF FUND MEANS MUTUAL FUND-
it does not meant that some of yor stock gain means they used BSE or NSE. Same if some lost it does not meant that they use BSE or NSE.
IT DEPENDS ON YOR portfolio means stocks in which they invest.
IF ONE FUND 'S PORTFOLIO means on which they invest WHICH ARE GAIN WITH SENSEX MOVEMENT OR MAJOR PART OF PORTFOLIO GAIN so nav of yor fund gain
IF major part of PORTFOLIO DOWN or lost means NAV of yor fund lost.
