If you're unemployed, how can you preseve your life savings while job-hunting?

Is it advisable to put your money in managed funds? Serious answers only.

I dont know how much is your saving, a good guage is to spread over 6 months spending minimum and meanwhile take up any temp job to have some flow of income while waiting for your ideal job.
Putting money into managed funds requires medium to long terms that is 3 to 5 yrs to realise any profits which in the mean time you may need some cashflow to tide you over those unemployed days.
Strike a balance and do your sum carefully.

Spend less...

While waiting for your preferred job, you can get another job just to get by on while waiting for an opening. Put your savings in a high yield account (but one that is easy to get money out of in case the need arises. Some accounts won't let you touch it without a lot of hassle) and don't touch it unless you have to.
