Running out of time?

i am having a major mid-life crisis. i'm 48 years old and was accepted to law school 12 years ago and then last year (great universities). both times, it didn't work out for me to go..1st time because of a divorce, 2nd time because my spouse was offered a position locally that he couldn't turn down. now, i need to make the most money in the years i have left to work so that i can build up retirement, investments, etc. in the window of time i have. i am currently a radio talk show host (no money involved) and a fitness instructor (little money involved). i have my insurance license, but don't love it...have thought of getting my Ph.D in Psychology, but don't know how good that money will be, and future school debt might preclude this as an avenue. help!

Do what you love, and worry about the money later. You will find a way to make things work, and if you really are doing what you love, you won't want to retire as soon.

But what do I know, I'm 24.

hi, I am not sure what the question was- are you asking what should you do- go to law school, psychology or other ideas?
I am in the same boat- 46 and I have a BA in Sociology - I have been working at a library forever and I can't decide if I really want to make that commitment to go to library school and get the MILS which would bring more money yet at my age, more school debt. I really want to teach Soc. but need at least a masters to do entry level teaching in that as well.
I say for you, forget the law school. sorry, but you are too old. you will have to compete with a lot of young kids out there and I know I couldn't do it!!
I think since you are on a talk show, you must like talking interacting with lots of people and i think psychology would be more rewarding for you. plus, you could find a government type job that would secure benefits that you are worried about for the future.
OR, you could go to library school and be a librarian ... it pays great and the demand is high!!
good luck!
