How to collect a debt owed? |
I worked for a man,who lives out of state,over his investment properties here. He always said he'd pay me when either the job was finished, he came to town,or I quit. Well I quit. I'd worked for 11 months. What can I legally do to collect the $10,845.00 he now owes me? How can I get it all in one lump sum? Can I put a mechanic's lein on all his properties? If so how do I go about doing this without losing all the money in court cost? Gather up all your documents and documentary evidence and get yourself a lawyer. The first thing you do is give him a formal bill and demand payment. If he doesn't pay then you have to prove that he agreed and you did the work, as best as you can. Good luck.
