if you want to put it away for awhile then look at I Bonds @ treasurydirect.com .. currently yielding 6.73% with tax deferred until you cash them in. you can hold them 30 years and will get zapped with a small penalty if you turn them in within 5 years.

A savings certificate . . . sometmes called a CD.

Invest in your own little business and keep the money coming!

That question truly matters on when you plan on using the money.

If you came to me and said you'd need it in a month or 2, i would say, put it in a money market, currently getting you about 4% interest.

If on the other hand you wanted the money for retirement, and you still had 20+ years until you needed it, I would recommend buying into a few quality mutual funds.

PS: If you do buy stocks/bonds, make sure at least 25% of your portfolio is in international stocks.
