I am looking at buying a Barratt Home in Harlow...?

Does anyone have any experience with buying a Barratt Homes or New Build. Worried it is a bed investment and we will lose money. Anyone been in a negotiation process with Barratt - how did you get on in getting them down on price?

Barratt, forget it. Have you not seen how many times this house building company has been on Watchdog. New homes are a nightmare. No garden, little space, plaster board walls (so you cannot hang up strong mirrors etc and the plugs fall out and drops off the wall). Honestly, if you can afford it go for an older house as the walls are better and you have more room etc (even in smaller houses). They don't build them like they used to BELIEVE ME. In my ex new house I would sit down stairs in the living room and would be able to hear my BF upstairs having a wee in the bathroom as the walls were that thin. Think and chose wisely my friend.

More than a million homeowners face a jump in mortgage payments of up to 60 per cent when their cheap fixed-rate deals end.
Analysts fear the impact will result in a surge in repossessions. Might be worth holding back until this financial nightmare we have has calmed down a bit more.

Barrat are terrible..seriously..hope you have professional inspector checking it for snagging first...Barrat are always the star attraction on ITV homes from hell...choose another developer with a better reputation...and who takes pride in their workmanship...

Best of luck...
