An investment question?

Hello everybody. I wish to all of you a happy new year which is coming in a few hours. I would like to ask a question regarding investments. Many times i have heard from people in the investment arena that to start an investment you must have at least 10000. I have to say though that there are not many people out there who have 10000 in cash to start an investment. What about these people and how could be helped in order to make a start in the investment arena. It is very hard to see that there are too much money around you but not for you. If anybody of you dear friends have an idea please contact me. Please only serious answers. Not serious answers will be reported. Thanks

The reason why they say you need so much is that a well diversified portfolio has much less risk than a non-diversified portfolio with the same expected return. You need a fair amount of money to make sure that your portfolio is diversified.

If you don't have enough money to diversify, then your best bet is to invest your money in a no-load mutual fund until you do have enough money.

so your lookin for a way to make profits out of a small amount of money? well i would look for shares that sell for a small amount, but still have a good return. Its not impossible to make money below 10,000, just harder.

$10,000 Is just a good place to start. Heck you can start with $100 if you want. The amount is not a big deal.. But there are fees when you buy stocks and stuff thru a broker or agent so you just get a little better deal if you get bigger bucks to start. Know what I mean?

Use a no-load fund like a total market index or if you want individual stocks, go to the companies website you are interested and then go to investor relations. Many have direct purchase plans for free.

A $10,000 investment minimum exists is entirely false. I am just 15 years old and have merely $4,000 and have made a nice profit of $1,000 in the past few months. If you have low capital it is imperative that you find a brokerage firm with low trading fees (Sogo Invest-just $1). It is harder to make money but far from impossible.
