What is the best book for money investment general knowledge/ idea's?

general question
I found a few books by Jim Cramer just was curious what anyone else was thinking.

HOOOOOOLY CRAP, please don't listen to Jim Cramer, whatever you do. He's an (investing) idiot. When he says "buy" you should wait 2 days then sell, and vise versa. Seriously, think long and think hard... would a guy that has to yell and scream REALLY have any good advice. I mean, REALLY?!

It's not that I just dislike his style (I think he's quite good at getting people to think he knows what he's talking about), but objectively he is bad. Don't believe me? Check out this article of his STILL posted to his website after all these years. I can't believe they still have it up -- you'd figure they'd know to take it down by now.

If you don't have the time to read, please allow me to quote a few of my favorites: (article posted 2/29/00, the **absolute height** of the tech bubble and before commodities skyrocketed)

"We don't use price-to-earnings multiples anymore at Cramer Berkowitz. If we talk about price-to-book, we have already gone astray."
"鈥he Nasdaq, which is made up of companies that can raise the bar, is up 12%. And in the self-fulfilling jungle that is Wall Street, only growth can maintain growth!"
"That means the off-price brands, whether they be Colgate or Dial or Hunt's or Ralston, are simply doomed by the Web."
"despite the 80% increase in the Nasdaq last year, we are looking at another record year now."

鈥?and probably my favorite 鈥?br> "any company that is a commodity producer simply can't be owned, no matter what."

He published this article in Feb '00, if you had invested $10,000 in his fund at that time, you'd have about 950 bucks two years later.

And to answer your question... The Intelligent Investor by Benjimain Graham. Even thicker than it is dry, it will teach you everything you wanted to know.

I have a book that Jim Cramer actually loves and applies the lessons he got from it to his trading and daily life. It is called "24 Essential Lessons for Investment Success" by William J. O'Neil. he is the founder of investor business daily.

Agree with above.

Ben Grahm's Intelligent Investor is the the benchmark. I found it tedious however. Maybe I should re-read it.

I'd suggest Bogle: On Investing. He's a highly respected Wall Streeter and founder of the Vanguard Corp. Better read as I recall and taught me about the market and how to invest... so far so good.
