Is Marketing Alternatives Ltd a legitimate company or a Scam?

Hi everybody,

I applied to take a survey on craigslist.com with a Company called Marketing Alternatives Ltd. I was instructed to send funds through a money wire, and take a cut from the funds they send me. I got a fat check delivered to me, and was advise by a representative of this company to deposit the full check, then after a few days when it clears, to send them the remainder of the money and keep some for myself. Now I'm thinking that the check was a fake and this might of been a scam! I need to know if this company exists and has anyone had the same experience that I did with Marketing Alternatives Ltd?

Dont even bother! Watch out and do not cash the check. I replied to an ad on craigslist for the same company.They supposedly are doing business with a new company in London and need people to do surveys for them. In return you get $500 check for each survey. Sound familiar? I went to my bank which happened to be Bank of America, the check was issued by Bank of America and was made out to 2500.00. My bank checked the account # and the check id # and told me then and there that it was counterfeit. They held the check and I gave them the contact info I had received from Marketing Alternatives Ltd. Mind you Ive been a victim of scams before. Be careful who you give your personal and bank information to. And always be mindful of things that sound to good to be true. Be careful with checks that are issued and could be counterfeit. If you deposit that check in your bank and they advance you the funds and then the check bounces or comes back counterfeit you could be held liable for the money advanced to you and any fees that arise from it. I had to close my checking acct last year due to a scam. Good luck and be careful! I hope this has helped you out!
