What is the next financial engine that will spark the market/economy? |
Ok, the inflated house prices, withdrawl of money from the inflated equity through subprime mortgages and consumer spending of these funds cause (in major part) the stock market ralley over the last couple of years. Given the global intergration of markets (e.g. USA housing market inflates do to ready availability of money at usurous rates, USA households spend money on chinese products, china uses USA money to purchase Latin America/Middle East goods and reinvests in USA treasuries at low rates sustaining readily available money for lending by USA banks I don't think a war is the best or even any from of a financial engine that will improve the market/economy. All we have is agriculture...since we have surplus grains we could charge more to overseas customers. Another War perhaps one with US vs Iran? We all know bush is pushing for a 3rd term this would be the perfect way for him to achieve it! Government spending, like another WPA project (I kid you not). Product innovations--and thus purchase of these innovations--tends to be cyclical. Government spending, or service sectors bail us out of the resultant cyclical dips of the economy. As much as I hate to admit it, war is great for the economy. For starters bring back 50% of the jobs that left the USA. bushes financial rebate package, it will work for at least a couple of days. |
