"What is a money market fund account"? |
"What is a money market fund account"? Its an investment account at you can draw from like a checking account... Good thing we have spammers here. A money market fund is a very conservative investment which invests in short term securities. It pays interest like a savings account, but usually a bit higher. Money market funds are usually not covered by Federal insurance. But in the entire history of money market funds, not one has ever lost a penny, not even during the Depression. It is a good place to keep money that you will need in the short term but is a lousy long-term investment. normally it a fund that a broker uses to let and individual park money in while the investor is thinking of what to do with unearned money that he has received from his investments -- you can also use it as a checking/saving account -- but remember not all money market funds are FDIC insured!!! |
