Disadvantages of Money Market Mutual Funds? What are they?

Like a checking account that provides slightly better yield than a straight bank account. Main disadvantage is low yield. Also, more recently, some may have been exposed to subprime loans. tba

Mutual Fund M.Mkt. accounts are a place to park your money (safely) until you can move it to a good or great investment, or a well performing mutual fund.

As in todays market, we began our danger decline in October of '07. Many moved their investments into these accounts until we hit the bottom of this market disaster (weeks or months out) then they can buy really good funds during a buys on weakness time.

Money market funds are not ment to be investment vehicles, just short term funds.

Low return. May not be covered by FDIC like a regular savings account would be, so if the company folds, so goes your money.
