Significance of residential status of investors in the Mutual Fund?

Significance of residential status of investors in the Mutual Fund?

The status may mean
1. As a NRI - can you invest in India? If yes, how?
2. When you invest, you need to inform the source of the money, i.e., whether in local currency or an NRE a/c or foreign remittance - because this will mean how you will be paid back
3. As a NRI the tax implications will be different too.

significance is great since it is as per the regulations laid down by sebi in india that a non resident can only invest if he/ she has a nri deposit account with the bank here
