Don't misuse the word safe. In a bank you are guaranteed to lose purchasing power after taxes & inflation so that is not safe. Don't think having control over something & seeing the total amount go up means you are better off. it is all relative. 4% interest -25% tax vs 3.5% inflation means you lose. DBV is an etf that specifically deals in currencies. Many funds just do headging.

NYSE stocks do not have a trading currency componant because the NYSE companiaes use U.S. denominated Securities. Now, they may do business all over the globe and trade the currency, but that is not a major operation of the companies.

For mutual funds, fiind a fund that invests in international equiyties 9not ADRs) and they will have a significant currency trading componant.
