How is the Franklin Templeton mutual fund?

How is the Franklin Templeton mutual fund?

I would say not great. 82% of their funds carry loads and their expense ratios of most all their stock funds are greater than 1%. You can get plenty of funds with no loads and expense ratio's well under 1%. The load and expense ratio are very good indicators of future performance. Take a look at the site below and select any one of their funds for more info.

Again it really depends on what is your investment style:

1. How long do you intend to invest ? Is it Short term( 1- 2) or Long term (>2)

2. What is your risk appetite? Conservative or Aggressive

You can visit my website which list best mutual funds in each sector and also guides how to invest in Mutual funds.

Varun

They are generally value oriented fund managers and many times they may not do as well as the rest of the pack who are more growth oriented especailly in a frenzied bull market as growth becomes more the center of attention and value becomes almost irrelevent and takes a back seat as momentum takes charge. In the long run however value oriented fund managers( Ben Graham, Peter Lynch, Warren Buffet to name a few) will generate results that cannot be matched by many growth fund managers.

Many value fund managers are forced (or loose your job)to deploy the excess cash that is received from investors into buying already overpriced stocks or ones which they already own but at much higher prices or under perform the market.

Their oldest equity scheme in India is Templeton India Growth Fund which was activly managed by Mark Morbius who is a legend in the industry and has decades in investing experience in Asian markets.

There is a new scheme from templeton which is focusing on high growth companies it is more risky than thier normal style which is conservative in nature and value centric.
